Orienteering Team
Every year (usually in the fall) the corps participates in the Central Area Orienteering Competition against other cadet corps in the area (usually 1 day during a weekend). Cadets may ask to join the team for the competition. The Training Officer is responsible for selecting the team members and senior cadets are given preference where possible. If the team is successful at the area competition they may be asked to participate in the Regional competition (1 weekend). Cadets must be committed to the team and to attending practices in addition to the competition itself.
Cadets who join the orienteering team enhance their ability to read and follow a map using a compass. It is highly recommended that the cadet be physically fit (able to run) or willing to train themselves for the competition.
